Sioma S.A.S. ("Sioma", "we", "us") operates getsioma.com and the Sioma precision agriculture platform. This policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information in compliance with Colombia's Ley 1581 de 2012 (Estatuto de Proteccion de Datos Personales) and its regulatory decrees.
1. Who This Policy Applies To
This policy applies to users of the Sioma website, mobile application, and platform services. It applies to farm owners, agronomists, and any person who registers an account or submits a contact form.
2. Data We Collect
Information you provide directly
- Name, email address, phone number
- Farm name, location, and size
- Crop types and farming practices entered into the platform
- Messages sent through contact forms or support channels
Data generated by platform use
- Field boundary data (geographic coordinates you define)
- Sensor readings uploaded or synced from connected devices
- Usage logs: pages visited, features accessed, time on platform
- Device identifiers and approximate location (derived from IP address)

3. How We Use Your Data
- To provide and improve the Sioma platform and services
- To generate crop health reports, alerts, and recommendations
- To communicate service updates, maintenance notices, and relevant agronomic content

- To analyze aggregate usage patterns (anonymized) to improve product features
We do not sell your personal data to third parties. We do not use farm location or crop data for purposes unrelated to your Sioma account.
4. Legal Basis for Processing
Under Ley 1581/2012, we process personal data based on:
- Your explicit consent, provided at registration or when submitting contact forms
- Performance of a contract, when you use the Sioma platform under our Terms of Service
- Legal obligation, when required by Colombian regulatory authorities
- Legitimate interest, for fraud prevention, security, and product improvement (where this does not override your rights)
5. Data Sharing
We share data only in the following circumstances:
- With service providers who operate under data processing agreements and handle data only as instructed (infrastructure hosting, analytics, support tooling)
- With regulatory bodies when required by Colombian law (SIC, judicial orders)
- In aggregate, anonymized form for agricultural research partnerships (never individually identified)
6. Data Storage and Security
Farm data is stored on servers located within the Americas. We use encryption at rest and in transit, role-based access controls, and regular security audits. We do not store payment card data - payment processing is handled by certified third-party processors.
7. Your Rights Under Ley 1581/2012
As a Colombian data subject, you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate or incomplete data
- Request deletion of your data (subject to legal retention requirements)
- Revoke consent for data processing not required for service delivery
- File a complaint with the Superintendencia de Industria y Comercio (SIC)

8. Data Retention
We retain account data for the duration of your active subscription plus 2 years. Farm sensor and satellite data is retained for 5 years to support historical yield analysis. You may request earlier deletion where not restricted by legal or contractual obligations.
9. Children's Data
Sioma is a professional agricultural platform. We do not knowingly collect data from individuals under 18 years of age. If we become aware of such data, we will delete it promptly.
10. Changes to This Policy
We will notify registered users by email of material changes to this policy at least 15 days before they take effect. Continued use of the platform after that date constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
